WW: Mayflower Handprint Boat

Hello Parents,

In thinking of a nice educational Weekend Wednesday activity for the kids this week all we could find were crafts on making turkeys. While turkeys certainly are a visual representation of the holiday, we wanted to offer you an idea that touched on a little more, some history, perhaps. As we went along searching the wide web, we came across a fantastic craft, Thanksgiving Day Mayflower Handprint Boat Craft, originally posted by Preschool Crafts for Kids. This was exactly what we were looking for, as it would help not only retell the story of the Pilgrims’ voyage to America – great for learning about American history, but also get your kids painting, which we know they all love. Best part, it is very easy and sure to keep the kids busy while you get home and dinner ready for Thanksgiving. Read on for materials and instructions as posted on the Preschool Crafts for Kids blog.

Materials:

  • gray or light blue construction paper
  • brown, blue, and white paints
  • paintbrushes
  • white paper
  • scissors

Directions:

  1. Paint the right hand brown and press onto the gray construction paper.
  2. Paint a blue sea and white clouds with paintbrushes.
  3. Cut some sails from white paper and glue on your Mayflower.

Now if after the kids are done with this activity they want to keep on painting, the Preschool Crafts for Kids has other fun thanksgiving crafts the kids can enjoy. Click on through for materials and instructions on these other crafts.

  1. Handprint Turkey
  2. Paper Plate Mayflower
  3. Fingerprint Turkey

Happy Thanksgiving!
Wishing for you and your loved ones a year filled with moments of gratitude!
